How plans and credits work

What you pay forEvery request to the AI spends credits: a request spends 2 credits. Turning the model around in 3D and changing its numbers in the viewer are free. Downloads spend credits too: 10 for an STL, a 3MF or G-code sliced for your printer, plus 5 per sliced download on an account without Pro or Unlimited. Starter credits are a one-time purchase: $5 for 50 credits plus 25 free, no subscription. Pro is $9.99 per month for 200 credits and includes slicing. Unlimited is $24.99 per month with unlimited requests and downloads. There is no pay-per-file option and no free trial: the live demo and the Starter credits are the ways to try SpeakCAD.
Starter creditsStarter credits are a one-time purchase, with or without a plan: 75 credits (50 paid, 25 free) land on your balance as soon as Stripe confirms the payment, add to any plan credits, and never expire. They do not renew and do not change your plan. You can buy them again whenever you run short.
Prices and taxesTaxes included: every price shown is the amount charged to your card. VAT or sales tax, where it applies to your country, is part of that price and appears on your Stripe receipt; nothing is added at checkout. Businesses can enter a VAT number at checkout.
CreditsEvery request spends 2 credits, whichever model answers it: SpeakCAD picks the model for each request, a quick one for small edits, stronger ones for new parts and redesigns, and moves up a tier when an answer does not land. Credits are taken when the request is sent and returned if the AI fails to answer. Follow-ups SpeakCAD asks for itself, such as fixing a compile error, are free. Exporting a file spends 10 credits; a sliced (G-code) export spends 5 more on every slice unless you are on Pro or Unlimited, where slicing is included. Pro grants 200 credits each month; Unlimited grants 500 for marketplace models and counts nothing else. Marketplace prices are also in credits: the maker of a listing receives the full price on every sale. Unused credits stay on your account if you cancel; they do not expire.
Free re-downloadsAfter you download a design, small fixes to that same design re-download at no extra cost: a tighter hole, a thicker wall, STL, 3MF and G-code of the same version, or the same design sliced again with other print settings. A substantially new object, or an edit the AI flags as a major redesign, uses credits again. Without Pro or Unlimited, slicing again still spends its 5 credits.
Private models on every planWith Starter credits, on Pro and on Unlimited alike, models you design and download stay private. Nothing is shown to anyone unless you publish it to the marketplace yourself, and you can take a listing down at any time.
Pro: the giveawayWhile the Bambu Lab A1 giveaway is open, a Pro subscription automatically enters your account in the draw. Cancelling or refunding the subscription withdraws that entry. Full giveaway conditions are on the giveaway page.
Marketplace extra creditsAnyone can buy a marketplace model with credits and earn credits by selling their own. A sale pays the maker the full listing price. Credits earned this way add to your balance on top of the monthly plan grant.
Invitation creditsEvery account has an invitation link on its plan page. A friend who creates an account from it receives 25 extra credits when they start their first plan. When that friend's first payment goes through, you receive credits according to your own plan at that moment: 30 credits on Free, 100 on Pro, 200 on Unlimited. One reward per invited friend, up to 20 rewarded friends per 30 days; inviting yourself or creating accounts only to collect the reward does not count, and such credits can be withdrawn. Invitation credits are promotional: they add to your balance, never expire and have no cash value.
Cancellation and refundsEvery plan can be cancelled at any time in the Stripe billing portal, with no commitment; you keep access until the end of the period you already paid. Unused paid time can be refunded within 14 days of the first charge on a subscription. Starter credits are refunded within 14 days if none of them were spent. Any download is refunded when the file is defective, as described in the refund policy. Promotional credits have no cash value.
Plans no longer offeredAccounts that subscribed to the Maker plan or started a free trial before 22 September 2026 keep them on the terms they signed up for, at their price, until they cancel or switch. Maker downloads STL and 3MF; slicing spends 5 credits per slice, like an account without a plan.
Credits, spent per requestThe plan adds credits every month. A request costs 2 credits whichever model answers it: SpeakCAD picks a quick model for small edits, stronger ones for new parts and redesigns, and moves up when an answer misses; turning the model around in 3D and changing its numbers in the viewer are free. Small fixes to a downloaded design re-download free. Ran out before the month is over? Starter credits top you up on the spot.
Your models stay privateOn every plan, nothing you design or download is shown to anyone. Publish a model to the marketplace only if you want to sell it, and take it down whenever you like.

You then choose from that printer's own OrcaSlicer print profiles (0.12 mm Fine, 0.20 mm Standard, Strength, Draft...) and filament profiles (Generic PLA, Bambu PETG HF, Prusament, Polymaker and hundreds more), plus speed, infill, walls, supports and adhesion. You get a .gcode file, or a sliced .gcode.3mf for Bambu printers, with the estimated print time and filament weight. Your printers and their last settings are saved to your account, so the next download is one click. Slicing is included in Pro ($9.99 a month, 200 credits) and Unlimited: a sliced download costs the same credits as an STL, and re-slicing the same design with other settings is free. With Starter credits alone, each slice spends 5 credits more.

No. If you can describe the object and measure it with a ruler or calipers, you can model it. There are no sketches, constraints or toolbars to learn. Engineers still use SpeakCAD as a fast first draft or for simple brackets and adapters.

No. SpeakCAD runs entirely in your browser: the chat, the 3D engine and the live viewer all load inside the tab. There is no software to download or install, no app store, no plugin, no GPU requirement and no licence key. It works on iPhone, iPad and Android as well as on macOS, Windows, Linux and Chromebooks with a current Safari, Chrome, Edge or Firefox. The only files you ever download are your finished STL, 3MF or G-code.
